"Life Drawing has been in the past an essential component of Art School training, as it continues to be to the present time.

Looking back at my drawings, I can see that at art school we were encouraged at first to experiment with what was referred as “ mark making” , giving us skills in using materials, mainly Charcoal.  At that time copying the model as accurately as possible was sort of secondary to creating expressive drawing.  I think my images here reflect that training."
