For SALA 2017, Arts North had a life drawing workshop on the 12th of August instructed by Colin Ross Trenaman, where for most of the day participants drew the model Jo in her belly dance costumes, exploring ways of using the human figure as an inspiration to draw from. A variety of techniques for making marks were taught, as well as learning different ways of breaking down and abstracting the human figure to make a composition out of. The attached images are of the final group exercise, where during a 20 minute nude pose, participants changed spots every 5 minutes and drew on each others work, contributing their own styles and some techniques learnt throughout the day to the finished products. Colin would like to thank those that turned up, and was happy to hear the workshop was a fun and challenging experience. (click images to enlarge)
