He dealt with basics (the difference between various D rings) and the technical (perspex saw teeth; multi-points drivers and cost of same; the distance that a Vee nailer feed spring can travel unobserved).
Great day! Good stuff! Thanks Gerhard.
A very informative Arts North day. Gerhard Ritter probably doesn't have every framing answer, but he has all the practical answers that matter! Works on board, stretched canvas, paper .. he demonstrated the lot in the space of a few hours. Gerhard demonstrated not just mat cutting, but glass and acrylic (perspex) cutting as well. Lots of tips - eg how to hang an unframed board without framing; or, mounting canvas board in a (subsequently matted) foam board sandwich. He passed on tips on what to buy and where; what you need - and what you might get by with.

No, this is NOT a 'Snippet' ... (snippets are much smaller!)
This is 'George', the achor fish, which won Steve Oatway third prize in the 3D section of the Murray Bridge Rotary Art Show. The eagle-eyed among you may notice a slight difference in Arts North's complete web address - now https://www.artsnorth.net/ For most everybody, there is no need to do anything except type in artsnorth.net as before, or just click whatever 'link' you always click. But what it does mean is that the Arts North site now employs 'http Secure' communication .. and, particularly, WILL NOT be branded a 'risk' in a near future Google campaign to make all web sites complaint. (Should any of you have ever seen a browser notification telling you that the site was 'insecure' and perhaps wondered about it, that was the beginning of the 'campaign' ... https encryption was the fix.) Sleep well, Arts North .... The fortnightly Monday afternoon portrait practice sessions and alternate fortnight drawing sessions are proving so popular, with the arrival of a handful of new faces recently, that it may well be necessary to book your spot in advance, or knock out a couple of walls at Judd House. A happy even dozen relax here during coffee break, with even a Billy Connolly look-a-like! Nice to have a few new faces to draw. Thanks Don. Cheers, Sue. (Pick the sitter - 10 only chances!) MiXed Media was introduced recently by Meredith Parker to a group of members who looked more like a bunch of kindergarten kids, as baby powder, craft glue and a couple of other ingredients were used to make modelling paste.
This formed the foundation for diverse and interesting creations on paper and canvas. The additional use of stencils, hessian, sand, shell grit, twigs, leaves, string, wool, printed matter and even gutter guard, old and new art, pencils, brush and paint, palette knives and fingers, came together in cohesive designs, patterns and images. These workshops are planned as a first Tuesday afternoon of the month activity, - the next to feature the use of tissue paper. Thanks to Meredith for helping some of us to add another string to our bow, a most interesting and fun experience. (Click pics below to enlarge) I was selected as a finalist in this years 2018 Brighton Sculptures by the Sea. (this is my sixth year as a finalist) My entry this year was Captain Barbossa - the Pirate of the Sea. He was entered in the outdoor sculpture category. There was a total of 175 entries this year in all categories. The exhibition closes on the 4th February.
