The launch of the H frame (H for Hans) was well received - orders were readily forthcoming.
and Happy New Year too!
Seems that Arts North must have done good this year ... Santa (and Arts North Committee) had the place looking great with the newly refitted kitchen and office in situ and gleaming. A big 'Thank You' there to Playford Council. Unfortunately, there is no imagery of the Christmas Tree - only an art society would decorate the dark green tree with purple/mauve bells. But, on a very much brighter note, the walls were filled with Robert Martin's 'Stars of the Sixties'. A tour de force, Robert! Graham said a couple of kind (and valid) words about Meredith and Meredith said a couple of kind (and valid) words about the Committee. The sausages were great (I am writing this the next day) and everybody had 'fun'. The Easel?. The launch of the H frame (H for Hans) was well received - orders were readily forthcoming. Ho! Ho! Ho! ...
and Happy New Year too!

Hardly overwhelmed with numbers (three to draw and one to take the photos), but a successful last effort for 2016 for Drawing Practice .. successful in that two of the drawers were 'newbies' to Arts North, back for their second session and successful also from an outcomes perspective (that last word VERY pertinent)!
All produced drawings that were well considered - and well understood in the 'doing' phase too. Believe it or not, the Portrait Practice sessions have been running now for three years (come the New Year). People have come and people have gone - sometimes 'standing room only'; sometimes only a couple of drawers; .. but never have we had a 'no show' cancellation. (And, the benefits of perseverance show in the work of those who have kept at it.) A BIG THANK YOU to all who have participated. No, the portraits above (click to enlarge) are NOT from our members (and may not appeal to everybody). Regardless, these works by Guy Denning (who publishes a work per day), I find compelling and, I suggest, should spur on any would-be portraitist. I hope you enjoy them .. perhaps taking on board just how much expression can be conveyed with a mark - and how dramatic can be the absence of a mark.
