Lyn says that ideally this technique should allow the pencil and the wash elements to be equally fundamental to the composition.
(For those that attended, - a memory jog (no imagery to hand). Lyn showed a couple of landscapes done with the pen and wash technique applied over the top of oil pastel highlight features - whereby the oil pastel resists the subsequent wash(es) and the pencil provides the detail. Very interesting.
